Redcar & Cleveland CLC

The Redcar & Cleveland City Learning Centre is part of the DfES Excellence in Cities (EiC) initiative. EiC is a targeted programme to bring additional resources to address the needs of urban areas. It brings a new approach that increases the diversity of provision for pupils and at the same time encourages schools to co-operate to raise standards. CLC's contribute to this programme by raising standards in education by:

  • Providing access to state-of-the-art ICT equipment


  • Creating new ways of teaching and learning across the curriculum


  • Acting as test beds for innovation


  • Sharing best practice


  • Developing new curriculum resources


  • Motivating young people


  • Supporting other EiC policy strands



The Centre's bespoke facilities which include a 200 seat auditorium, 4 seminar rooms with interactive whiteboards and projectors, 2 x 25 workstation ICT rooms with a range of software, recording studio and a drop-in café area with internet access, provides a positive learning environment for both pupils and adult learners.
